Peptides are small by design. Their effects, their evidence, and their limits are not. Here is the molecular map behind five names you may see on a label—and the research context that should come with each one.

A peptide is a chain of amino acids. Change the sequence, its shape, or what it is bound to, and you change the biological conversation. That is why GHK-Cu is not simply “GHK,” why TB-500 is not the same as thymosin beta-4, and why a lab finding cannot be copied from one compound to another.

The profiles below separate three things often blurred together: what a molecule is, what researchers have observed, and what a finished topical product can responsibly say. Much of the literature is cellular or preclinical. That makes it useful for understanding mechanism—but not a substitute for human clinical evidence, product directions, or medical advice.

GHK-Cu

A copper peptide in cosmetic research

GHK is a naturally occurring three-amino-acid peptide—glycine, histidine, and lysine—that can bind copper ions. In cell and skin research, GHK-Cu has been associated with collagen and glycosaminoglycan production, fibroblast activity, and tissue-remodeling signals.

BPC-157

A peptide studied largely in preclinical models

BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide originally described from gastric protein fractions. Preclinical work has explored its relationship to vascular signaling, nitric oxide pathways, angiogenesis, fibroblast activity, and inflammatory cytokines.
