TB-500 is the synthetic N-acetylated seven-amino-acid fragment corresponding to residues 17–23 of the full 43-amino-acid thymosin beta-4 protein. Its sequence is Ac-LKKTETQ.
The fragment’s identity was characterized in a primary analytical study published in 2012. Sharing a short sequence with thymosin beta-4 does not make TB-500 equivalent to the full-length protein, and research involving full-length thymosin beta-4 should not be presented as proof of what TB-500 does.
An FDA scientific review published in 2026 reported that it did not identify human-exposure studies for TB-500 by any route. The review also discussed a 2024 laboratory and animal study in which observed scratch-assay activity was associated with a TB-500 metabolite rather than the parent peptide.
